Hey guys so I am having a serious outbreak of Hydroids ... I originally had a pretty good amout of copepods considering my tank is only 3 months old and now have barely any and the hydroid takeover has commenced they are all over my glass ... HELP... no experience with these pests so what is it that I can do?

The picture is the best image I can get on my iPhone sorry but you will get the idea.

I had a couple show up in my tank one day and I vacuumed them out. I did a lot of reading about them and a lot of people said they show up one week in a big population in newer tanks and then disappear the next week just as fast as they appeared.

I haven't seen too many more in my tank, but whenever I do see them, I siphon them out just to be safe. My tank still has plenty of pods.

How long have they been there? I'd recommend siphoning what you can out, and just waiting it out. I don't know that there is much else you can do.

Edit: You can see a picture of one of the ones I found in my tank thread in my signature. (Or in my Flickr)

Well then hopefully they will disappear soon.

I read a lot of conflicting information about them online (ex. some say they're jellyfish, some say they're not jellyfish, some say they'll overtake your tank, some say they're harmless, some say they emit toxins that are harmful to fish and corals, etc, the list seemed endless). I just made the call that I'd rather help them along in being rid of my tank.
