DiddlyD
Hi there I got a pistol shrimp and goby about 2 weeks ago, they paired up right away and were very active around the tank for about 3 days. Then they closed up all the caves and disappeared for about a week, I've read that they do this from time to time. They reopened the tunnels a few days ago but I haven't seen the Goby, not even at feeding time. Could the pistol shrimp have killed the goby? Should I get a new goby and see what happens? I seldom see the shrimp but I know it's there. Link to comment
Hammerstone
How long has the goby been missing? Link to comment
gulfsurfer101
I don't think the shrimp would do that but maybe your goby got trapped or crushed by shifting rock. Then again he might be coming out from a place not visible to you. Mine rarely pokes more than his head out the tunnels they dug. Link to comment
Idaho ken
These pairs are so funny to me. I had a hi-fin goby/pistol pair....the goby was always out of the cave, ate very well, then one day I found it crammed into a rock way up high....dead. I didn't replace the guy for a few months, and lost a few fish along the way....I was told that the pistol may have killed the fish, and my cleanup critters ate them (never saw them again). I replaced the goby finally with an orange stripped one, and they paired up immediately. No more missing fish, and the goby does poke it's head out from time to time, and comes out for "dinner time"....very very rarely see the shrimp, unless I get up around 2am and look lol. DiddlyD
Goby has been missing for about a week now, doesn't even come out at feeding time. They're under a main rock in the display so I can't check if he's dead under there. I guess I'll just wait it out Link to comment
Normang
Mine haven't come out for a few months. But I lifted up the rock a few weeks back and sure enough they were both under there. If your worried just check under the rock. Link to comment
smeagol108
In my old tank I used to go months without them making any apparent appearances but they were always there. Link to comment
