Opinions on Coral Propagation Tool Kit

Hi everyone,

As I get ready to transfer the livestock from the BC29 to the 30L, I would like to start frag some of the larger pieces and frag up some of the zoa's that's spread (to where I don't want). I have mainly montiporas that's encrusted that's considered stony. What is a good kit you've purchased that will serve my purpose? Not looking for anything really fancy since I'm not planning to frag on a regular basis.

Thanks

-Jeff

A pair of cuticle cutters from Walmart work amazing on sps. You could also pick up an exact knife there as well for any lps or softies. Buy plugs online in bulk and buy glue online in bulk. Much cheaper than a prop kit.

Nothing beats a hammer for making frags of stony corals lol.

I really need to get me a decent set of bone cutters, currently using a pair of side cutters lol.

Lots of people just get hold of an edge and peal them off the rock. You can either use fingers or tongs/tweezers to get hold of the colony. Some people use a craft knife to cut around the area they want to remove, others just use scissors to cut up the lifted mat or tear out chunks.

Remember to wear eye protection etc as zoas and palays can squirt toxins and they can be very harmful if you ingest it or get it in your eye or an open wound.
