J-Ranko
See this very informative thread: http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/74703-lgreens-ultimate-guide-to-nano-fish/ Link to comment
seabass
Like fish, or inverts? For inverts, you could keep coral, snails, crabs, shrimp, fan worms, micro stars, certain anemones, etc. For fish, you might want to check this guide: http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/74703-lgreens-ultimate-guide-to-nano-fish/ You can research fish and inverts at LiveAquaria.com. EDIT: looks like J-R beat me to it. Link to comment
nano_MC_reef
i am more into fish that are colorful and none to semi-aggressive. i also like corals that are colorful but wouldn't grow so fast that they choke out every other coral in the tank. i hope that can help in any way with fish and coral recommendations Link to comment
seabass
A firefish is colorful and peaceful (does require you to use the top). Gobies are also peaceful, perfect for nano tanks, and come in various vivid colors. A pajama cardinal is an odd looking fish, but appeals to lots of people. A royal gramma is a very colorful fish. A six line wrasse is colorful (although it leans more aggressive, it's usually fine with non-timid tank mates). Dottybacks are usually more aggressive. Likewise damsels are usually too aggressive to recommend for a small community tank. You probably want to stay away from green star polyps (although they can be an attractive coral) and xenia, which both grow quickly and can difficult to contain. Other than that, most corals would probably fit the bill. Link to comment

seabass
Zoanthids are excellent corals to start with. They don't require dosing, they can live in moderate light and flow, they don't require feeding, they come in lots of vivid colors, etc. Link to comment
