darkdancer333
I just replaced my Red Sea 130 glass with 130D glass. I ordered the new skimmer casing and used the pump I purchased several months back. I am having a big micro bubble issue and it doesnt seem to be improving. For 6 days now nothing has changed with the skimmer. It's constantly overflowing with foam inside the cup. I have talked to several different aquarium stores and they stated all skimmers go through a break in period. Barrier Reef said it could be up to 2 weeks. Red Sea I had called and inquired on the flow valve because it doesn't slow the bubbles down and she stated also the valve goes through a break in period. She also stated these skimmers are very sensitive. My main store stated that these skimmers in the 130D are a POS lol I have to shut skimmer off for 2-3 hours a day to give the coral a break.. It just seems like 2 weeks is an overkill.. I would think after a week you would see some adjustment. I really would like to see how long this process should really take. Link to comment
zsxking
Try: #1 max air flow, #2 add foam to input, #3 add foam to output. #1, #2 is to reduce water flow in the skimmer. #3 is to catch micro bubbles. Link to comment
tetraodon
when getting new skimmers its a good idea to clean it really good, micro bubbles are usually a sign of oils of films still present on the plastics, i usually clean with a strong vinegar solution Link to comment

The only thing I dont like about the red sea skimmer casing is that is doesnt sit flush with the tank.. The pump has L shape intake and outake and the intake makes the casing sit about 1 inch off the bottom. Also red sea is sending a new pump because the flow valve they dont sell separate. They are sending a whole new pump just so I can replace the flow valve Link to comment
tarunteam
Give it a couple of days. Mine made lot of microbubbles initially too, after a few days it all died down. Link to comment
