baseballfanatic2
I have a nuvo fusion 30 L and would like to know which is the nicest sand to get. I love me some nice white sand. But also don't want a complete sand storm. Which is the best in your opinion? First up, Tropic Eden Aragasnow. I hear this sand is heavier than most and stays down, despite its size (anyone have experience?) https://premiumaquatics.com/products/tropic-eden-30-lbs-bag-aragasnow-sugar-size-5mm.html Second up, Tropic Eden Tonga Pink, seems new! Have not seen this sand before on their website. This sand would be perfect if there wasn't so many pink specs in it. But what do you think? https://premiumaquatics.com/products/tropic-eden-tonga-pink-sand-30lbs-08mm.html Third up, Nature's Ocean Live White Sand. I love the color of #0, but #1 seems a bit more size appropriate. http://www.naturesocean.com/aquarium-supplies/live-sand.html Well, what do you guys suggest? Link to comment
ndrobey
It depends on your lighting. Different sands are going to look different under different lights. Pinks are going to look more white under blue lights. White sands may be too blue when you get them under blue lights. Fiji Pink is a popular choice. Link to comment
ManGups
This is the most prefffered by most reefers ... Some mix it with Meso flakes https://premiumaquatics.com/products/tropic-eden-reefflakes-aragonite-sand-30lb.html This is easy to vacuum and the cleanest San u will find... The rinse water water will literally be clear by the 3rd rinse .. Link to comment

ManGups
Sand is obviously a personal preference ... Whatever you like is what you can choose ... Finer sand is just difficult to clean after a long period it will accumulate of bunch of dietrus ... Std argonite reef sand is also what people prefer.. I have used fine sugar sized sand, argonite and some others but not been happy in long run until I used tropic Eden reef flakes- if I had to do this again I would mix 2:1 ratio of tropic Eden reek flakes and Meso flakes respectively. Again this is personal choice. Link to comment
Tamberav
Reefflakes was too coarse for me, if you don't like coarse then I would go with something smaller. The pink in Tropic Eden Tonga Pink doesn't really matter because your sand will get coralline and have pink on it eventually anyways. Link to comment
jcreefer
I just put in ~ 25-28lbs of Tropic Eden Miniflakes in my 30L which gives it about 1 in coverage. Grain sizes are ~ 1-2mm, very uniform with speckles of pink interspersed. I'm hoping this is not too fine of a grade as I am setting two MP10s opposite of each other while using the stock pump. I'll try to post pics in a bit, but I do like the look. With 2 T5 ATI Coral + bulbs, it looks very clean and white. Jeff Link to comment

So would you suggest to go with this over fiji pink? These are the two choices I am deciding between. And. I see on the description, the size is just 2mm. Is it really between 1 and 2 mm? If so, I might consider this sand now. Link to comment
Elizabeth94
When I used fiji pink it was a nice fine sand, but it had a few shells in it too. I had to pick them all put before I rinsed the sand. It did blow around a bit until the biofilm grew and held it together. I now say no sand is the best sand Link to comment

If you want PM me your number, that way I can get the pics to you faster. I'm planning to take a pic of the sand with something as reference and include a ruler as well. Jeff Link to comment
