Can anyone suggest a powerhead that will give me enough flow for my 10 gallon nano reef tank without overdoing it?

Hi I have 2 Koralias one is a (240) and the other one is a 425, they are not wave makers but the current is not too strong and is there, hopefully will give you some ideas. So in total I have 625 gph Plus either your hob filter or your return pump... Have a good day

The amount of flow required for your 10g (standard?) is directly related to your aquascape and types of animals you plan to maintain. For example, a bulky aquascape requires more flow and most stony corals prefer more flow than mushrooms.

A 250 gph can be plenty in one tank, but 400 gph might work better in another, so no 'one size fits all', really. I use a 210gph in my 12g mixed reef cubeish tank, but I also have more open rockwork with less obstrucions than most nano tanks.

My first nano almost ten years ago was a 10g standard. I actually used an oversized 55g HOB filter from petco for both flow and some filtration media. I cut the intake pipe down to fit the tank. It worked well for over a year. Plenty of flow for all softies and easy to change filter pads. I eventually upgraded to the koralia nano to keep more advanced corals.

My advice is buy one size larger than you think you need. I've always found a little extra flow more preferable to not enough.

Koralia. I had problems with mine initially, the company sent me a brand new one, when I isolated that hte problem was actually a missing rod, they sent me that too. So Great PR <3

Koralia 240 looks like a good choice, atleast it sounds like their customer service is pretty good!
