I dove into this hobby head first over the past couple months and have changed my mind countless times on what kind of tank I wanted to put together and along the way I have gathered a random assortment of equipment. I finally decided to put some of it to good use a start up a shroom garden, it will probably evolve as I change my mind but for now that's the goal. Most of the parts will be re-purposed from other tank ideas/plans that have come and gone.

Cleaned up the tank, took some substrate and rock from my fuge and got this thing wet. Not sure where the tank will end up so it's just in the laundry/"fish" room for now.

I'm definitely going to need some more rock but I'm holding off until I get a better idea for the overall design of the tank.

Filled up and ready to start the waiting game.

I got that same tank, miejer branded, on clearance for $10 :P Planning to swap my picotope corals to it. I would get rid of some of that substrate unless you are planning to get a burrowing fish. Really a hassle in these picos. Bare bottom is best. Looks like you're off to a good start overall.

Sounds like you got a pretty sweet deal. I probably paid around $30 for the kit, which everything except the lid went to the junk pile. I am really interested in a goby and shrimp pair but plans may change so I might end up pulling the substrate.

Yah that filter it came with is a joke. I was surprised how nice the silicone and glass work is on a tank like this. Had to snag one when I saw it on clearance. Goby shrimp pairs are awesome and work well in small tanks so its worth dealing with the sand/gravel.
