Skimmer questions

So my first time with a skimmer and I have questions. So to answer everyone's questions, I have a Psk 100 skimmer for in sump use from Eshopps. I run a 50 gallon long cadlights set up with sump. So I just hooked in the skimmer I have it on wide open and the water doesn't begin to fill up the tube......but it is making bubbles

 

So my question is does it take a couple hours for bubbles to fill the tube and the skimmer actually to start skimming ?
