Lights on or off?

Hey, guys. I am going out of town tomorrow for Mother's day until the next day. I only have one clown fish and CUC in my tank. The stupid light the guy at the LFS sold us did not come with a timer. I just got a timer off of Amazon but it does not work with my light (of course). So my question is...should I leave the light off the whole time I'm gone or should I leave it on the blue lights? I have a Fluval LED light.

Side note: It REALLY makes me angry that Fluval would even sell a light that doesn't have a timer. Why would anyone want one without a timer?! I know, I know...I bought one, but I was clueless when the LFS guy was throwing stuff in our cart. Should have researched more.

One day isn't going to be an issue with only a fish and a clean up crew. You can probably leave it off. even if you had corals one day without light would not likely affect them.

Lots of cheaper lights don't have timers. I had a Wave Point fixture which wasn't bad for the money but it was always on if plugged in so, like you I had to get a separate timer.

Leave them off. This will also help alleviate too much evaporation from your tank. The blue lights are just personal preference on whether or not you want them on or off. They will have little to no effect either way.

Why doesn't it work with a standard light timer?

I'd leave them off, even if you had corals one day with no light won't effect.

I had the same dilemma! I went on vacation with family for a few days and didn't know what to do. It was before corals... Left lights off for 3 days and came back to a happy CUC and firefish :-) Enjoy your time away!
