i have a small frag of red planet that is my first ever Acro and i have noticed the bottom is starting to bleach! and i have started to research and it said that i can frag part of the top and that part that i fragged would have a chance of survival, is this true? and if it isn't what is the best action i should take right now?

Yes, u can frag or if u are worried - I can also apply superglue to the bleached part till the edge where the bleach ends.

But do post ur parameters so that someone can advice what is possibly causing that ..

Most essential a keep things stable ...alk especially and don't keep moving the frag or touching ..leave it one place and get ur parameters stable ...!!

calc. 430 mag. 1400 alk. 10 phos. .05 i realize phosphate is high and I'm working on that (reducing feedings to once every 3 days, feeding less garlic, using phosgaurd, increasing water changes)

Yeah I would cut garlic completely unless you have sick finnicky fish that refuse to eat! Vaccum out your sand bed with water changes. Siphon out as much detritus as possible. You can frag it but with po so high you risk algae growing on the fresh cut or just killing your frag by stressing it further. Honestly is look at cleaning up my water and letting it be. Try and shoot for aquacultured sps since they are more hardy. You probably recieved a frag off a maricultured colony where there was little hope to begin with.

Edit: Red planet is aquacultured so it should bounce back pretty easily once your water parameters fall bank on order!

How do you have Phos at .05 with phosguard?

Okay, i just did a water change and siphoned a bit of sand hoping for a recovery

You sure you're not seeing new growth/encrustment? Just checking

It hasn't grown that much at all, at most 1/4 of an inch in 6 months i just have started to noticed the bottom is turning white

Is it the rim of the base thats turning white? That new growth.

White on the base could mean its starting to branch, but more likely bleaching in your case.
