Should I consider squeezing 4 T5's Plus LED?

I currently have my Reefbreeders LED and two T5 retrofit bulbs one each side with a Coral+ and Blue+.

I believe that might be able to squeeze in two more T5 bulbs to bring it to Four total plus my LED.

I'm trying to figure out if its unnecessary and the 2x39w plus LED is plenty for a 40 Breeder tank?

What do you guys think? Try to squeeze two more in or is it good as it is? I have a PAR meter coming soon which might help with the decision, but I wanted to get some opinions.

Try 2 first see how it goes - measure PAR etc. if needed add the other 2.

Obviously 4 is better than 2 but it is about just the right amount of light....

Are you using quality reflectors with the T5's?

I think it may be enough if using good reflectors and the LED spread is generally good.

I think 2 is fine. I have a 50g and am running 2 with 4v3s. Plenty of light spread. I think adding another might make things look bulky. Pics please ?:)

I guess I should wait for my PAR meter and then I'll see the PAR two of them are putting out with the LED off.

What would you guys say is enough PAR from the two to say they are good as-is right now?

It is the Miro T5 Retrofit kit. The reflectors seem good.

What sort of PAR is enough from the T5's ALONE to know that they are providing enough of their light to benefit growth?

For SPS/LPS that is.

I can adjust my LED to get whatever PAR I want...but if the T5's are only putting out 50-80 par average is that enough? I just want to figure out what is "sufficient".

4 T5 are enough to grow to grow SPS at the bottom of a 12 inch tank when 9~10 inches above the water level. Same with LED's

2 T5 with LED are more than enough ..

Ok so then I'll save the money!

One more question -- T5 bulb change on my lighting setup...Should I just change both bulbs every 12 months, or stagger them by a month between the two?

Go ahead and change them both. As long as it is done regularly, then you won't have any truly appreciable light shock from it.
