Supplement light for LED to soften shadow

I have a nanobox duo running on a 30" long tank. The light is sufficient in terms of power, but cast pretty hard shadow. So I want to add a long light across the length of the tank as supplement, to create a more balanced light. Does it make sense?

This is how my tank currently looking:

My current ideas are a LED strip or a single bulb of T5.

For T5, is there any fixture that are single bulb? controllable? Also what color bulb should I pick? Don't know much about T5.

For LED, I found ecoxotic stunner led strips 24" seems to be a good choice, especially it is labeled to be only 0.15lb, means I can just mount it by attaching it on the nanobox. The other one I found interesting is tunze 8811 marine eco chic. I can put it in the front top edge of the tank in or touching water. Does anyone have experience on these lights, or other recommendations?

Mounting is a concern too because I can't hang anything from the roof. I have a screen on the tank. I would like to keep it easily removable without touching the light.

Thanks,

Hey - most people go with T5's as they can complement the LED spectrum and fill in some gaps.

There are a few T5 kits you might be interested in:

-Sunblaster Nano (single bulb -not as efficient) http://www.t5fixtures.com/sunblaster-nanotech-t5-ho-fixture-reflector-combo-review/

I think one bulb would be enough, so Sunblaster Nano I guess? It comes with 6400K bulb, means I will need to get another bulb. What bulb should I get?

How does Sunblaster Nano compare to something like this? Since I need to get a right bulb separately anyway, I would essentially buying the body of the light. But I'm not sure what to look for.

Also is controllable option normal for T5 fixture? I would be nice to have the T5 and LED run on same brightness cycle.

For mounting I am thinking get a kessil gooseneck and tie/glue/whatever the light on it. It's tough enough to support Kessil A360, which is more than twice the weight, it should be OK to hold up a single T5 strip.

I bet they're pretty similar - nothing special about the sunblaster.

I think your best bet for fill bulbs are:
-ATI Coral + (if you like a white look)

-ATI Blue + (if you like a blue look)
-KZ fiji purple (if you feel you need to add more red)

By white you don't mean like 6500k white, right? I run nanobox at 90% blue and 40% white. Will that more close to ATI Coral+ or Blue+? I think it will be best to get a bulb that can be compensated by the LED. So Blue+?

Also how is wave point super blue bulb? It's the on Amazon with prime shipping. Otherwise buy from other seller like BRS will need to pay shipping as much as the bulb itself...

Surprisingly found ATI bulbs in one of the LFS. Tried the blue+, putting the T5 in front of the LED, but the look is weird. The shadow area got a light blue tune, looks unnatural. Will probably try coral+ instead.

So which fixture did you get in the end?

Also, does anyone know if this Miro/LET 2x24watt can be run with 1 lamp only?

It's crap, but it works. The reflector is pretty bad though. But for now I will worry about getting the right color I want first before worrying the efficiency of the fixture.

look at my thread, you can get an idea of color early pictures are of coral + and blue + and now I have coral + and purple + you can also see where I have my bluefish settings at
