why is the prime the better choice?

It has less LEDs, less coverage than the coral compulsion not to mention about $200+ difference.

I'm really trying to understand why its better- popularity, look, and programmable(which for me is not a selling feature) thats the difference I see.

A huge thing is control. Also I would disagree on coverage on wattage it has 45twatts at full power. With the Par38 you are stuck with a single wattage light with no control over color or intensity. That is harder on coral selection and coral acclimation for lighting. Par38 bulbs are cool and all but I would hate not being able to control the color. Do not worry about the amount of LEDs all LEDs are different in color and power. If being controllable is not a selling point at all then go for a par38. However late down the road I think you will find not being able to control your light will be annoying. Also you don't have to get a prime. If money is a concern there are many controllable lights on the market and if you wait the classified section always has primes or kessils for cheap.

Some of the coral compulsion bulbs are dimmable. Just saying.

Thank you. Actually its why I asked. I wanted to know specifically why prime was a better option.

What irks me the most about prime-paying for a hanging harness and or the arm. Thats $40-$50. Ai prime is useless without those components...at least 1 should be provided with the light.

When you buy a car did you have to pay for the frame? No, the cars useless without one.

I currently run a par38 with 12 leds, i love the bulb and it is strong but I can't stand the 50/50 @10,000k...its soooooo WHITE. Lol. Plus its a cheapy version, optics are 60 degree, the spread sucks and its not dimmable... if only had I known about coral compulsion or rapid led a yr ago

No programming isn't really important to me. I'm looking for good colouration, something that will be better, definitely not break the bank.
