Did I kill my Duncan?

Went to LFS today, got some Corals, a Cleaner shrimp and a Pink Tube Anem.

I wasn't thinking before I went to the store and topped off the tank. Got back home with goodies and realized CRAP! too much water, so, I broke out the siphon and cleaned off some cyano from sand and rock. Well, I accidentally Sucked up our Duncan, I am Like OH CHIT! :furious::blink:

I Immediately broke the suction, But I fear that I may have killed it. No Pics yet, Water is still cloudy to a degree and I don't like posting cloudy Pics.

Just after I did that! :furious: While working the sand near the Bubble coral, again the damn siphon picked that Coral up too. I Know I lost some of that Bubble :tears: But at least it wasn't the entire Colony.

How long do u folks think it would be before I knew for sure I doomed the Duncan?

I am just not happy about what I did, After I was happy with our new Goodies!

Damn, I feel like crap!

2 Pictures of the Duncan..beware, cloudy water and Camera Phone. U will see another Duncan next to it. They were both the same size before the accident.

I hope it turns out okay! I would think you'd be okay, but perhaps take it easy on stirring up the tank for a bit. I would be more watchful on the bubble to be honest. Keep an eye on that one and look for signs of tissue die off where you hit it. Also, cyano eh? Lets figure that one out first.

Nitrates. I am over feeding :( My Fault. BUT, I am working on correcting this.

The Cyano is not that bad. I am staying on top of it..doesn't grow aggressively.

The Bubble Coral, Thankfully, IF! any damage, it was only 3 or 4 Bubbles and TBH, I am not seeing significant damage.

Give it time. You said you sucked up the duncan with the siphon? Was it always on the rock? Is it not glued down?

Yeah..haven't glued stuff down yet, as I am still new to keeping Corals and am learning A LOT! Placements! Lighting, Flow, Sweepers...

And before I set something "Permanently", I'd like to be sure that it is in a good location and also aesthetically pleasing.

I do try to listen to a lot of great advice from here and my LFS.

If u look at my Build thread, I just updated it, u can see how I have things for now and hope no changes may be needed.

No..just snails knocking them over, the bast@rds.

Regarding flow, The 2 Stock power heads I have aimed at the surface, only enough to cause turbulence and I also have them alternating every 90 seconds.

I also have a Koralia that Stella sent me (Sold) on the Back left side of tank creating flow behind the LR and the Tank's Back wall. (Bulkhead).

Keep an eye on the Bubble coral because I had something similar happen and thought I was in the clear. I've been a in a losing battle to keep it alive ever since. :(

I am doing the exact same thing and have to coral check every morning bc the snails and hermits are trouble makers!! I have a Duncan who is flourishing and it has been ABUSED. Obviously not on purpose but my hands get shaky when I am placing corals and he has been dropped, kicked upside down by snails- even scraped on rock-oopsie When really upset it has been 24 hours before emerging. He always does though bless that little Duncan! Hopefully it will be ok, just lots of TLC and maybe turn the lights off for a bit? I heard this helps stressed corals :-)

Checked the Duncan this morn. It seems it is going to be okay, just a little "Worn for the Where".

Hell, it survived a battle. It is opening back up.

As for the Bubble Coral. It too looks okay today. Sadly, it is a little smaller. What do I expect, I Sucked up a few "Bubbles":tears::tears::tears:

Depending how they are looking, you can also do a bacterial dip with iodine. It is my go-to dip if I hurt any of my lps, or even softies.

I use "Betadine," you can get it at any cvs. Mix it with tank water until the color is a light/medium tea color (it doesn't take much). If my acans are acting up I do a quick iodine dip and they are back to normal within hours. Stuff is magical.
