After a few years out of the hobby it's time to start over.

Just ordered the first few pieces.

Xr15w pro (I might add a second down the road)

Vortech MP10WQD
Apex w/ lab grade ph probe
WXM module
Breakout box
2 float switches

Can't wait to get this thing up and running

NICE! welcome to the fusion 20 club! i think 1 xr15 is enough with the wide angle..

Thanks! I'm looking forward to getting back to my nano roots. Any suggestions on which pump to use for ato?

I'm using the micro smart ato and it came with a small pump ... I suggest for our tanks with such limited space u go with the micro too. The pump it came with connects to a hose that's not much bigger than a dosing pump hose.. Maybe double the size.

Finally something to look at! Mr UPS man just dropped off a box of goodies from BRS! The Vortech is due tomorrow. Think I'm going to return the RMS mount and go the diy route instead. Still need to order a heater, ato pump, and probe holder. I've also been toying with the idea of making this an SPS tank so a Tunze skimmer might be in order.

Awesome! I love to see new reef toys! I feel like I just bought them  . I would have gone with the XR30 for better coverage, and not worrying about upgrading later down the line.

Is the Tunze a much better option than the Ghost? Looking for a skimmer for my 25 lagoon, so many mixed reviews on nano skimmers...

I'm actually going with two xr15's. Just felt like spreading the cost out a little as opposed to one big bitter pill to swallow.

I've used Tunze products in the past and have always been very happy with them. I haven't tried their nano skimmer, but it's been around for years. It's also supposed to be very quiet.

Nice build! I have the aquamaxx hob-1 on my lagoon. It is starting to pull skimate after 2 days but it is flipping huge.

A minor, but cool update. About ten days ago I decided to upgrade my refractometer. I wanted a unit made for NSW as opposed to brine. After a bit of research I settled on the Veegee and ordered it from The Filter Guys. This weekend I was floating down a river in my kayak and decided to stop for lunch. While sitting on the bank I checked my email. I had an emails from The Filter Guys. I opened it expecting the worst, back ordered, delayed shipment, something. Well it was none of those things. It was to let me know they overestimated the shipping costs and refunded the difference. It wasn't a lot of money($14),but very cool of them nonetheless.

First mistake of the build, I didn't read all of the details. :( I ordered a Tunze 9001 and missed the part where it only fits in the center chamber. It also would require a 2nd return pump. So it's back to the drawing board. Are there any good(ie not a ghost) skimmers that will fit in this tank? Going up for sale shortly is a brand new(can't return openbox) Tunze 9001.

I'm not sure about the 20 but I bought the Reef Octopus NS80 Skimmer for my Nuvo 25 Lagoon, I saw a guy on here have success with fitting it in the skimmer chamber. It's supposed to arrive tomorrow, I can take some pics for you after I get it installed.

can you get the measurements of the skimmer chamber on the 20 Nuvo?

The skimmer chamber is 4" x 2.97"

Not sure why you would hate on the Ghost Skimmer... I have had mine for over a year and it works very well. The haters of this skimmer are those tend to read posts from those who were impatient and expected PNP with perfection on day one.

Specs on the Nuvo 20:

Am I hating on it or do I just want something better? No skimmer is pnp. They all have a break in period and take time to get to know so to speak. Even my old MRC Beckett Skimmer took some getting used to. The first time I set it up thought everything was dialed in and my 5 gallon collection bucket was nearly overflowing. I was trying to set it to skim "wet" for my bare bottom tank and it pulled almost 5 gallons of water out of my tank in about an hour.

Im not saying you're hating... I meant it in the manner that no one should not be deterred from the Ghost, especially when there are limited options for an in chamber setup vs. HOB.

Kkeeping your bioload consistent is key to dialing any skimmer in, and when you deviate from the day-2-day, that is when you will be required to adjust.

To the OP... going to two pumps isnt a bad move, especially if the Tunze is the product you want over the Ghost. Just be careful not to get 2 pumps that exceed the stock GPH/each or your tank will look like a desert storm!

It appears as though the back compartment is the same as the 25 Lagoon so if the skimmer works in my tank it'll work in yours. Im picking it up this afternoon, and I'll keep you posted on its performance. For only $45 it's hard to say no lol

I've had zero problems aside from the first couple of days with the ghost skimmer in my 10. i was very hesitant to buy given some of the more vocal anti-ghost posts around here, but did find one with less than two months use for half retail so jumped at it. There was loud vibration at the start, but after a dis-assembly and good cleaning whatever was causing that noise went away. It's in my 20 now, and still working well.

The only time I can hear anything from it is at night when all the other electronics are off in the house. The noise from the air baffle chamber sounds like a faint gurgling, but I sleep with the radio on at night so can't hear it. If I didn't have the radio going, it is very faint and just sounds like white noise.

The Reef Octopus NS80 fits great. However It has produced nothing but water in the collection cup so far. I don't have much of a bio load yet so I'm not going to be too hard on it now. Still breaking in anyway. Ill keep you updated as I increase the bio load.
