Firefish vanished, not a jumper

Some of you may know, I recently got 2 firefish. The first one got attacked by the second one, I believe. He's a goner. Now I can't find the other firefish! I have a top on the tank, but I've checked the surrounding areas for dead fish and I've checked the back sump area.

There was a recent thread about a bobbit worm and now I'm a tad paranoid. I know the firefish like to hide in the rocks, especially UNDER the rocks, so I suspect the fish died under one of the rocks. Anyone have any clever ways to remove a fish from under a rock without taking out the rocks? I've got a ton of coral growth on these rocks and I'd hate to mess something up.I

I only have one turbo snail, one stomatella snail, and one hermit crab. I don't think the turbo snail fits under the rocks, so what are the chances a stomatella snail and hermit crab can clean up the dead fish on their own?

Or should I start looking for a bobbit worm...

My firefish love to hide in all nooks and crannies in the rocks and will come out when the pumps are off for feeding. As for jumping unless your top covers the whole tank and there are NO gaps it's still an option. It's crazy how small of a gap they can jump through. Hope you find him safe!

The chances of you having a eunicid worm are very slim, and the chances of it being a bobbit worm are incredibly slim, so I wouldn't worry about anything like that.

Both of my firefish sleep together in the same hole, under a rock. It is insane how small of a gap they force themselves into every night. It could easily still be alive and hiding. My buddy has a purple firefish that went missing for almost two weeks before he saw him swimming around again.

My Firefish hide in a cave most of the time. Turn the pumps off for a couple min and drop some food in the water to see if it'll come out.

It never was a super shy firefish...usually it would always come out to eat as soon as food was in the tank, but I'll try feeding with the pumps off and see if anything happens.

I've also noticed the past couple of days, my birdsnest has been looking awful and getting brown on the tips. The rest of my corals aren't as sensitive to water chemistry so I wonder if maybe the fish did die and it's affecting that coral?

Nah, two cats...who are terrified of the fish tanks. But I suppose if the fish made the jump, they may have eaten it.

(I'd honestly be very shocked if they ate a fish that jumped...we had a flasher wrasse that jumped and found it dried out on the floor)

I tried turning the pumps off yesterday, giving it some time, and feeding. No fish. I suspect he's history. Which really sucks, because I don't like killing fish, especially when they've been taken out of the ocean.
