Nanofrau
Hello! I couldn't find an introduction thread (sorry mods if I missed it). Just wanted to stop in and say hi. This is my first time with a nano tank and with coral. I've had several freshwater and a 55gal FOWLR tank before. I'm excited to try my hands at corals and happy to be working with a smaller setup this time. My setup: 10 gal IM Nuvo Eheim Jäger heater Upgraded to Rio 800 pump for more water flow AI Prime lighting 10lbs LR Green Trumpet coral (came on LR) Mushroom (came on LR) 1 scarlet hermit crab 1 nassarius snail 1 cerith snail 1 masked goby ( I think he's permanently in hiding) Random sponge Link to comment

Elizabeth94
Welcome! I am sure you will get a lot of great information here, this is a really great group of people who all share the love of reef keeping. Looks like you are off to a great start! Its good that you have the basics of saltwater (i.e.- topping off water, testing parameters, water changes). The only three things that I would say are different from keeping corals and fish are more attention to: nutrients, lighting, and flow. Keep your nitrates in check with water changes, and make sure you don't burn the coral with the AI Prime, I can see that mushroom at the top. This is a great tank! I am a little biased myself though... Take a look at other members tank's. You will learn a lot by what others are doing, and how to deal with certain problems with corals, etc. Link to comment
Clown79
Sweet looking tank! And Welcome I have the same tank and upgraded my pump too...the original barely moved the water. In the future there are other upgrades I found beneficial. I got the new media basket which is so much easier to use and seems to work better with more room. I also got the spin stream for flow which i love! Sounds like you are off to a great start:) Link to comment
Nanofrau
Thanks everyone! Clown79: Have you tried the sock basket? I have it and the original they the tank came with. I'm considering getting the acrylic one and installing a refugium instead. Any thoughts? Link to comment
Clown79
I have these two upgrades but Not a refugium. I know there is a refugium light upgrade. Refugiums are beneficial but I have no experience with them. Link to comment
