kylekruko85
Bought a Tunze 9001 skimmer for my biocube 29. I am having a hell of a time tuning it in. I have an ATO, a Intank basket and I modified the tabs to fit it in the second chamber. I just can't seem to get the bubbles to in the cup. I have the water level about a half inch from the skimmer cup. Any suggestions. Link to comment
jamescstein
Lower it a little bit and leave it for a day. Eventually you will get the right level. Mine water level is about 1/4" from the top of the skimmer (with the cup off). Link to comment
kylekruko85
How far do you have it choked off? Link to comment
StevieT
The water level line is the max level. Water can run up to 1" below that level. Open the air valve all of the way and make sure foam is present under the cup. How long has the skimmer been running? Link to comment
kylekruko85
It's a used unit that was running for 3-4 months. I just installed it today. And have been messing with it. I probably am not giving it enough time. Link to comment
StevieT
Oh gosh. It needs to break in, can take up to two weeks. Link to comment
kylekruko85
Yea I wasn't sure if I should be pulling bubbles to the top right away or not. Link to comment
Ken0
I myself just ordered one the other day. Should get here by the end of the week. Good info. I'll post my results once I get it installed. Link to comment

moy71
don't know if this will help in your case, but i found that mine works best when i completely removed the plastic adjustable air intake that is normally attached to the airline. aside from a neater and cleaner look, i get the nice bubbly action. i only get a green tea kind of skimmate. quite watery, but i'd rather it be out than in. good luck. kylekruko85
Right now I have it at the waterline mark and its filling it with water so ive been messing with the choke Link to comment
Ken0
I installed my 9001 skimmer last Friday. I have a 9 gallon Eheim nano tank and the skimmer is in a hang on CPR Aquafuge so the water level stays level. Installed quickly and it has been pulling gunk almost immediately. Today I cleaned it for the first time. Easy to clean and adjust Link to comment
kylekruko85
I suppose it's still only been 2 weeks but I am still just sucking water and I'm almost choked off all the off. My one complaint is the magnet mount to the unit is a POS. Next time it comes apart I am glueing the damn magnet to the unit. Link to comment
