What GFO brand do you use?

I use the BRS high capacity and use like 1/4 at most of the recommended amount.

How long does that last you? I just ordered the regular (non-high capacity because it was not in stock) and am switching from Phosguard.

Depends on how much phosphate you have in the water. I switch mine out twice a month which is probably to much, but I also only use like 1/4 of what is required

Their calculator is saying to use 1 cup and although I don't have high phosphates I do like to feed a lot  I use probably 3 cups of phosguard and I think it lasts me a month.

Check out EBAY, Kolarproducts, Bought 12 pounds of it over a year and a half ago, works great.

Same stuff as BRS regular GFO

Was thinking about purchasing from eBay.

Right now I'm running a Santa Monica Algae scrubber. I want to switch it out with the IM desktop reactor running gfo.

The algae scrubber seems greta but its taking a while to build up. Im not that patient.

I notice a serious increase in color on my acros 1 1/2 days after a water change. Then they brown out as i get closer to next water change. Thinking the GFO will keep my phosphates in check.

I chabge it out every couple weeks if I'm using it. I don't use it all the time so the full tub I have doesn't even look like it has a dent in it.

BRS, but don't go for the high capacity one, since it will reduce the total amount of usage and won't have much contact surface area than the regular one. Starting at half of what BRS recommend. If you use high capacity one then the amount will be just a tiny bit...

Gunna try the BRS.

I was also thinking about ME Coral GFO. I have been LOVING their Alk, CA , and MG. Mixes super clean and fast.

BRS high capacity, used the normal BRS stuff when I had a smaller tank since I needed enough in the reactor to tumble.

Where are you buying the ME stuff?

I got it from the website MeCoral.com

Originally, the guy I buy my coral from gave me a one shot of their dip. It worked really well so when it came time to dose, I decided to give their powdered Alk,CA, Mg a try. Lab grade quality and it mixes super clean in about 2 minutes time. Granted i have never mixed or used any other dosing products before. Watch the video their website about the difference in mixing between others.

Then I tried the amino acid blend. Its awesome because it doesn't need to be refrigerated, so now I'm running it on my 4th dosing pump. Contains vinegar so its a form of carbon dosing as well. I haven't noticed an increase in algae since starting this. Polyp extension seems to be better and nice growth but thats prob due to the other elements being dosed.

I would get their GFO but seems a little expensive compared to all to the other products they offer. Not to sure though.

I recently switched to their Cal/Alk from B Ionic. It does mix pretty well/quickly and the powdered forms are pretty cost effective, the dosing standards are pretty close to what B Ionic was but ME Coral takes a little more Cal.

Also using their dip and Amino Acid but I don't think I'd pick up their GFO....it's the same as everything else out there so I just went with BRS but might go with Kolarproducts next time. Can get Kolarproducts on Amazon and Ebay and it's a few dollars less than BRS. With the 10% back from BRS it probably evens out if you're buying 1 pound but Kolarproducts looks to be a better buy in the 6 pound increment and up.

Ive really been enjoying their products thus far. You gotta try the amino on a dosing unit if you haven't. So easy.

Yeah i figure i might as well get bulk as ill be needing it in the future. I guess GFO really is GFO not matter how you slice it.
