Plastic Bags for Shipping Coral

Hi all,

I was hoping to get some recommendations on quality plastic bags for shipping corals. I am looking for higher quality so I don't have to triple and quadruple bag.

I found these are for cups to use:

http://www.amazon.com/Polar-Ice-PI125200CT-Plastic-2-Ounce/dp/B00OFX5DSM/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1460998230&sr=8-10&keywords=mini+plastic+cups

I would prefer to use Amazon if possible.

Thank you!

If you want to use a cup, use something with a screw on lid like this http://www.amazon.com/Specimen-Cups-Lids-Oz-pkg/dp/B0006GDBR2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1461000759&sr=8-1&keywords=specimen+cups

This is probably what you'd want to order to be cost effective:

I was thinking of doing the puncture hole in bottom of cup and use cup as a shield when the coral tosses in the bag (I will ship mainly zoa's). Is there a way to use a cup with no bag and still keep it from sloshing around in the cup? I'd would be down with eliminating the bag altogether for a small added cost to ensure safe arrival.

Ahh, I see. I've gotten frags like that as well. My friend owns a pet store and said there are different densities of bags you can order but even if you go with something a little higher quality you'll probably at least want to double bag it.

Several vendors and LFS's have used these bags: http://www.amazon.com/Fish-Shipping-Transport-Bags-Each/dp/B015769WPU/ref=sr_1_6?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1461001162&sr=1-6&keywords=fish+shipping+bags

if you're shipping zoas on plugs these would be good, nice and confined and a very small seam.

This is what we do and it seems to be working fine. We use specimen cups as noted above for regular coral and anemones. I buy them on Ebay..

Also, when I ship SPS (Very rare that I do, because I don't sleep until it gets there the next morning). LOL I get a sauce cup and I open a whole on the bottom, I get a blade and cut a cross and then stick the plug through it and stick in the specimen cup and then prevents it from tumbling around and getting more stress than what it is already getting.

IF you are going to buy bags, I suggest Uline.

I wish I had pictures with me- I could snap some and send them later on if you like.

Sandy
