Can you tell us a little more about your friend's tank? We would be happy to weigh in on whether it would be an appropriate solution.

We are also working on a video about the light that we intend to release later this week that your friend may find "illuminating." ;)

His tank is a 2 gallon pico, mainly with LPS corals and a few sps, if I remember right he had like 4 sps in it,

Acropora, Stylophora, Pocillopora and I can't remember the last sps, he has.

The NemoLights are not made for high-light corals as it uses lower wattage LED chips (compared to high-output lights like the Kessil, Hydras, Razors or Radions). However, since the aquarium is very small, it may work out okay. The Stylophora and Pocillopra will likely be okay as they are lower-light SPS. The acropora would be questionable.

Yea his tank is not tall its a regular Do!Aqua 20C. I will let him know that the light is fine to use. He mainly wants it because of the features it has compare to his par30 bulb and its design, he really likes how slim the fixture is

Do you have any photos of your setup and what type of coral are you keeping under it?

I have the 24" AquaMaxx NemoLight over a 38 Gallon Innovative Marine NUVO aquarium.

I started the tank in August 2015 and added the NemoLight September-ish.

Aside from a handful of mushrooms, the rest of the corals came to me as frags from coworkers.

So what about this light over the IM20? I'm looking to do mostly soft corals and sps. I totally meant LPS and not SPS.. lol

Soft corals, no problem. My tank is 19.02" deep and your 20 gallon is only 13”.

I added a few different frags of birdsnest 2 weeks ago and I can see new growth on all of them. They are in the uppermost area of my aquascape. The highest piece, the one nearest to my MP10, is doing best.

AquaMaxx is not marketing the light as a solution for growing SPS, but for me personally, I am satisfied with the growth rates of my two frags of montipora (see photos above). We'll see if the fuzzy sticks continue to grow!

I am planning to epoxy the three zoa frags on the sandbed to my aquascape before my next water change. I think that will make "the beach" look cleaner and the reef look fuller.

Thanks so much for the info and feedback. This seems like a great starter light to get my tank up and running, especially since it's on sale on the website.

Well, I learned it's the big one that's on sale, not the 24" that I'm looking for lol It was tagged as sale when I searched for it, but after picking the one I wanted it changed.

You can save $5 with coupon code REEFS. You can get a bigger discount if you pick up one of the coupons in our booth at Reef-A-Palooza this weekend.

We have some cool sales and videos coming up, but the themes aren't lighting-related. So unless our buyers merchandise the lights in one of those promotions, I don't think they'll specifically be on sale within the next few weeks.

Used that code for my new IM20 and it's only for new users, so I can't use it again.. BUT I'm glad you gave me the code, thank you.

hey MD do you think the 24to 36" model would work for a softie LPS 40br?

Hello devaji108. Although you can place the 24”-36” fixture over your 40G breeder, keep in mind that the legs will extend to 36” but the fixture itself is only about 22” long. I would recommend upgrading to the NemoLight 36”-48”. This bigger light has an actual fixture size of 32” which will translate to better light coverage for your aquarium.
