Hi nano-reef!

Here is my new setup

It is a shallow cube tank, for now it is a mixed reef with possibility to became a sps tank.

Setup:

Tank Dimensions: AIO Custom Tank - 24 x 24 x 10 [acrylic back wall sump]

Water movement: Jebao rw-4 + MaxiJet 800 [return pump]

Dosing: Randy's 2 Part manually dosed, currently dosing around 20 ml of each solution

Skimmer: RedSea Prizm

Lighting: ATI 6 x 24W (4 Blue Plus + 1 Aqua Blue Special + 1 Coral Plus)

Filtration: Mix of dry and live rock. To help fixing bacteria I use 500g of Siporax on the back sump

Maintenance so far:

I am lucky to live in Lisbon, Portugal, being surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean where I get amazing natural water for free! So far I never used salt in this system. Every week I change between 10% to 20% with natural water where I only correct the salinity level.

Besides that I give my 3 fish a combination of flakes, pellets and frozen foods.

Since the tank is 4 months only I do care a lot about KH checking it twice a week in order to adjust the two part dosing. So far the manual dosing works for me, I am dosing every day after lights out and never had a problem. Since sea water here is not very strong in Magnesium I will probably need to to small weekly adjustments.

The objective for the next months is to create an amazing environment and conditions foe the small frags I have been buying to fellow reefers and to learn as much as possible about their needs and growth.

I like your aquascape. Very interesting take size, where did you get it? I want one! :)

Thanks! It was custom made here in Portugal. So a bit difficult if you are from US!

Nice start- looking forward to watching this grow

Thanks!

Here are some crappy photos with my phone, definitely have to star using my camera:

Nice tank! Did I see a purple stylophora in there? I have one of those. They are a beautiful coral.

It's neat that you just use fresh ocean water for your tank. In theory it sounds like the ideal way to maintain a reef tank. No worrying about mixing and aerating your water change supply in advance, accidentally using too much/little salt, replacing RO/DI stuff over the years...must be nice. I'm curious-- do you treat the water at all, or put it through a UV sterilizer or anything before you add it to the tank? I guess you'd have to heat it up at the very least.

Care to share any pictures of the back wall/sump area? Is it just set up vaguely similarly to the back chambers of Nano/Bio Cubes etc?
