evan47
I set up my tank a few months ago and the ph has been consistantly low at 7.6 on the red sea test kit. I was hoping that it would have risen by now without any messing around but no. ammonia and nitrate are both 0, nitrate a little under 10. phosphates .16 ( but lowering ), alk 9. live aragonite sand, live and ceramic rock lfs saltwater and ro. i have a powerhead rippling the water nicely, the tank is lidded but has a decent gap. how to to raise the ph to 8.1? Mariaface
Don't chase a pH number. Do you have adequate surface agitation and/or a skimmer? Is your house sealed up against the weather? It could be a high CO2 concentration. Link to comment
superbluetang
Mine was 7.5 for a long time so I removed my fish and add in a c02 absorber setup. It worked. My ph went back up to 8.1. I guess my house has too much co2 in the air. Link to comment
Sal10104
honestly do it the natural and free way, Open a window to let C02 out your PH should raise up. Link to comment
bryanthelp
+1 on opening a window. I stay in a small apartment, and if I don't regularly open a window my ph drops. Link to comment
blasterman
Get a different test kit. 7.6 is almost impossible to sustain without directly injecting C02 into the tank, aka malfunctioning calcium reactor. Link to comment
