Just want to confirm something

So I'm upgrading from a 29 gallon biocube to a Red Sea reefer nano. I have made a new aquascape for the new tank with dry rock, my plan is to put the new aquascape in the tank and my old cycled rock in the sump and every couple of weeks remove a piece of rock Dom the sump until it's all gone.

It this the correct way to go about this?

Are you transferring livestock as well? I think my only concern would be any organic matter on the dry rock you're going to use. If you transfer over a bio-load you may see some spikes in ammonia, nitrite and nitrate if the dry rock is really dirty.

Yes I'm also transferring over my live stock. The dry rock is super clean and it has been in a rubber maid for over a week now with a piece of live rock from my tank to try and seed it. Been keeping ammonia at 3ppm in the rubber maid

I got the dry rock from reef cleaners which is supposed to be to cleanest dry rock that I have read reviews on.

This will be perfectly fine with no issues. I did this and so did many others. And I too used reef cleaners rock straight out of the box and rinsed.

Have you been keeping the ammonia at 3ppm by dosing ammonia or is that just what's coming off the rock?

No I'm dosing ammonia to 3ppm

Green light go - obviously be smart about it though. Take precautions and have some water on hand for a quick water change. Maybe some prime too.

I would set the new tank up with the new rock and let it run for a day or 2 just to settle out if there's not a space constraint. If it's a replacement though it should still be fine. Clean off the old rocks as much as possible (in the old SW) before transferring and make sure you have plenty of flow in the sump.

It's going in the same spot as my current tank. I'm going to leak test everything before the transfer. But I need to break down my current tank first.

I would suggest letting the rock process the ammonia and covert all the way to nitrate or put it in new water and make sure there's no residual ammonia on the rocks would cause ammonia to read. I'm probably being overly cautious but it would be pretty defeating if there was ammonia in the new tank due to the new rock and it affected your livestock. Things are already going to be stressed out because of the move in general, just my .02.

Reef cleaners rock is fine, you prob would have been better off not even putting it in a tub but using it dry.

My concern is your current live rock, moving the rock into different positions and putting it in the sump (with different or maybe even no lighting) WILL cause die off, the question is weather your live rock can process the inevitable die off.

I was just starting to cycle the rock for my biocube but decided to order the reefer 170. I would of used it dry if I didn't order a new tank.
