how long a good saltwater mixed water can be on a bucket before being used

Hi there,

 

Nano Reefing is fun. I had so many tanks over the years but never a nano&pico reef and they open up a new pallete of questions.

 

I dont have a RO at the moment ( will be an office tank ) and I'm wondering : if I buy a bucket ( 25g ) of pre mixed saltwater from my LFS ( my tank is 9g ) , how long can it be in the bucket before using it ?

 

Ie, my idea is :

 

- buy the bucket

- put a very small powerhead inside, so the water is kept moving

- every week, take 5g or so to make a water change

- at the end of the month, buy another 25g of water

 

This would be preferable, rather than going to the LFS ( which isnt exactly close ) to buy 4-5g of water each time.

 

Will do any harm for a pre mix water being on the bucket for a month ?

I've always wondered that too. Common knowledge says as long as it stays stirred up, or is stirred up prior to using it, it will be fine.
