Coral sitting after receiving?

I live in an apartment and have a lot of trouble getting days off. If I place an order and the people in the office of my apartment sign for my order, do you think the coral will be fine sitting for several more hours in the office until I can get off of work? I keep building orders on your site but can't pull the trigger because of my silly job.

If you trust them not to miss the package, maybe. What is the temperature in your building? Thats what I would be concerned about. I know my house is around 60 degrees, so I wouldn't let coral sit out too long. Can they place the baggies in your tank to keep the temp up?

My LFS will accept for me. Depends on you relationship with them. Talk to them. The lfs is 2 brother co-owners ND I've been in there almost weekly. Could be an option

It would be in the office so I imagine around 70.. They wouldn't be able to access my apartment.

pay for saturday shipping. most places will charge $15 more.

Sadly I work Saturdays too.

This is an interesting option.. There is a lfs super close to home. I'll talk to him. Thanks for that idea! He opens at 11 though.. I've had salt critters orders arrive earlier.. Could be a problem. May just have to schedule a day off far in advance just for coral delivery lol.

depending on the type of corals, you should be fine. people send zoas 2 days priority and they are usually fine. i wouldnt do SPS but most softies and some LPS will do fine.

I figure the heat packs would probably keep it warm enough. I'd be ordering some frog spawn, zoas and ricordia. Fairly hardy corals. I'll probably just wait until I can get my supervisor to schedule a day off for me. It'd be a bummer to order stuff and just have it die on me.

It's a bit of a liability for the shipper but up to them - if I recall saltcritters packs their stuff pretty good so you may be okay.

Another option would be to instruct the package to be held for pickup at the UPS/FedEx location. Then you could strategically time a lunch or something to go grab it and toss the corals into the tank on your way back to work. You may even be able to grab it before work.

I would be worried it would get to hot if it has a heat pack in it. If you can get someone to atleast open the box to remove the heat pack they should be fine until you get back.
