Yes true, but what have they actually gotten the patent on, as the chemical mixer video demonstrates, that form of inductively turning a remote agitator or propeller isn't a new idea and surely can't be unusable by anyone other than vortech.

 

One thing that came up in the jebao discussion the other month is they haven't ripped off the vortech, but have replicated the gyre almost as soon as it came out.

My thinking for this is the vortech design just isn't cost effective to produce and to be honest, a bit of a gimmick. But would make a great DIY project if you have the kit (like a 3D printer) to make some of the component parts........... Just don't try and sell it lol.

I had a similar idea to this for a pico tank. Having the motor on the wet side in a water proof housing and sending power to it wirelessly by using inductive coil.
