Cencalfishguy56
a few new corals.. I have a guy in my small town that orders/ frags/ sells on craigslist. he has so great stuff at excellent prices all the white specs on the glass are copepods, and also some small amphipods. i'm positive they have reproduced... time for a copepod predator welcome to Cali love these tanks! Great start 1 Quote Link to comment

reefhound
I know.. where's the Mandarin? at the LFS I ran across a Dragon Face and a little Blue Line. The Blue Line hadn't moved since he came in, they had him in a tank where the flow was way too high. the Dragon Face is pretty beat up... fins chewed off and hungry, but now he's pretty fat n happy with tons of live food. he hasn't moved out of 6 square inches.. just eating. I don't normally buy fish on the edge of dead.. but had to get this one out of there Mandarin is ordered Quote Link to comment
Cove
For the Eheim 600s did the 1/2" ID slip right on or did it need any adjustments, also did you use clams for the hose? Quote Link to comment
reefhound
yes, and yes... all fit together perfect.. I put clamps on the top only.. if the bottom comes loose it isn't a problem. also, I feel even the top clamps an overkill.. it's a nice snug fit very happy with this setup and the adjustable pumps.. I have them dialed down a bit Quote Link to comment
reefhound
little guy has been pigging out.. color is coming back.. he slowed down quite a bit, I thought I had better order some more pods! Still got a healthy POP though Tisbe biminensis pods all over the glass.. much more than I purchased 2 Quote Link to comment
reefhound
one thing I've recently done is pull most of the macro algae out of the tank it's way too much effort to pull the top off and get it cleaned out. i'm also adding a cover over the screen so I can close it off or open up all the way if I want. I am positive they are reproducing, but need to regulate the numbers crawling in the main part. I've added filter floss to the room, some LR, and will add more rings i'm around 6 weeks in I think. a lot of algae in the tank.. my lazy assed snails need to get busy... have some chemiPure on the way Quote Link to comment

reefhound
Ultra Maxima added last night with a firefish and flametail blenny (the flame tail is awol.. no clue where he went) Unfortunately/ or maybe fortunately a lot has happened with the tank I've reached the conclusion that keeping pods in a tank is a very fine balance. The dragonface died, but I am pretty sure it wasn't because the tank parameters were off. i'm sure it wasn't doing well to begin with. there was plenty of food at the time the scooter blenny has a new home: the reality is, it just doesn't stop eating, and exhausted all the pods in the tank, leaving nothing for the blue stripe pipe. although the blenny was trained on mysis, I still had to overfeed the tank by target feeding 5 times a day. I was at the point where I was not enjoying this. SO: I will work on keeping pods in the tank for the pipefish only, and continue to get a healthy population breeding in the tank I also raise the separately in a 2 gallon container and spot feed the pipe.. this is working quite well and the other fish don't eat the pods as far as equipment: i'm extremely happy with the equipment and upgrades Quote Link to comment
