Its not terrible in the short term but it's not a good idea to leave it that way for an extended period. I would do a couple of moderate water changes over the next week. Test the new water for Mg before adding it to the tank, hopefully its much lower.

just did a major water change yesterday. I'm surprised it's so high. Guess I'll have to check my water mix. never had a problem before that i was aware of, but then i'm not in the habit of testing for it since i don't generally dose it. Just to be sure I'm reading the test correctly, you go by how much solution is left in the vial (which was 0) not by how much you used (which was the full 1ml). Otherwise my Mag is 30-, which I find hard to believe. Could be my test kit has gone bad? it is 1 1/2 years old. Thanks

no idea how to test for it. I just do frequent water changes dont have any mature corals so i just assume all my levels are ok.
