kylekruko85
I bought a bio cube 29 today off a guy and he through in 30 pounds of Oolite live sand. I've am picking up mixed reviews on the grain size of this stuff will I be kicking myself for using it or should I be fine. Link to comment
Subsea
From the point of view of substrate, it's fine. Just keep it less than 1". The biggest issues with this fine grain sand depends on the circulation rate in your aquarium. High flow rates equals sand storm. Link to comment
spectra
Yep I like the oolite also but it does move around with higher flow. All stuff will move with the right amount of flow. I think you will be fine. Link to comment
malacoda
I've used some to add an extra 1" of sand bed depth in my 24g Landen and am running an XF130 gyre on it's lowest setting (~10%) for forward flow and ~30% for reverse flow and it's fine. Actually the return from my mame overflow will move the sand bed more than the reverse flow of the gyre. And when the Mame return does move the sand bed (e.g. when I don't have it positioned to buffer off of live rock) it's a slow, gentle move like an slow invisible snow plow rather than rapid sandstorm.
