Here is my 1.9 gallon pico reef. It has been running since May. I wanted to try a smaller low maintenance tank with some easy corals and see how it would progress. The maintenence for this tank is 50-75% water changes weekly, sometimes once every two weeks. Besides that, I just top it off daily and feed brine and mysis.

Equipment:

-deep blue 1.9 gallon betta tank

-coral compulsion par 30 light

-deep blue biomaxx nano hob

-betta heater

Corals/macro:

-xenia

-mushrooms

-duncan

-palys

-cheato

-dragons breath

Livestock:

-yellow coral banded shrimp

-blue legged hermit crab

-Astrea snail

Some pictures from when it was started to now.

I've had this tank going for a year now without any issues. Everything has been growing good and seems to be doing well. Only issue is with all the growth the tank is overcrowded now! So perfect excuse to upgrade to a 3g long!

The new tank is a aquatop 3g long rimless. I was very impressed with the build quality of the tank and silicon work. I have a large finnex hob with the tank as well as a small deep blue hob for flow. Hopefully getting a small powerhead to replace that soon. Stocking is the same for now and may add my yasha goby and pistol shrimp from my 7g eventually.

Added some fish! I've had a yasha goby and pistol shrimp in my 7g cube for a little over a year now and I absolutely love them. I think they are some of the coolest looking fish. So when I saw a pair of yasha Gobies and a pistol shrimp for sale in liveaquaria diver den, I bought them right away. For now they are in the 3g may move them into my 60f once I get it going though.

As much as I love my coral compulsion par 30, I don't think it's quite getting the spread I need for this tank. I have a nanobox tide I was gonna try on it but just fried the storm controlor so not sure what to use now. Might try out the orbit marine pro which comes in a 18in length and looks pretty nice.

Cool little tank!

Thanks guys!

What return you using for your 1.9G Pico?

Was just using the deep blue biomaxx hang on back on the 1.9.

Totally agreed, excellent pico! I love the rimless tank upgrade. The Tide controller can probably be replaced? Maybe contact Dave about a price and feasibility.

Thanks guys!

Wow just a hangon back .

What you have in the hangon back?

The space quite limited right

Hob has three chambers. First one has some cheato and dragons breath, second is floss and some chemi pure, third just has the heater.

Been busy with work and haven't done much with the tank. Trimmed some xenia back but the stuff grow back so fast! Here's a current full tank shot.

Going to remove the rock in the middle with the hair algae and xenia on it. Also gonna remove the rock next to it with the xenia. My friend is giving me a good price on a nice candy colony and a head of torch so will be adding those soon to fill in the space. Hopefully the xenia will stay mostly on the right side. I am stating to regret ever adding that stuff to my tanks.

Here's the Yasha pair and the pom pom hanging out in the background.

Last week I had a Yasha jump out on me :( super bummed about it, they were so cool to watch interact together. No idea how he got out I have a mesh top that is taped on every area where there is a possible opening. Besides that the tank is doing well. Have added a few more corals. Some current pics.

I don't know what I like more. The yasha pair with the pistol, the big fat yuma or the interesting tank dimensions. Great job! :)

That tank is a beauty,

a few questions:

Whats the netting you're using?

And is your xenia pulsing?

The netting on top is the clear mesh from brs. The xenia used to pulse a ton when it was in the 1.9g. It still pulses just not as much as it used to. Here's a video of the xenia in the 1.9g

Current pic, Yasha and pistol came out for the pic.
