lallen_74
Hi there! I have a fairly new Nuvo Fusion 10G, to which I've recently added a lettuce nudi. This afternoon I discovered the nudi doing what I assume is laying eggs. Why did he/she decide to do this in the area of highest flow in my tank? Right out in the open? I'm assuming that nudibranchs aren't really super-geniuses, but is this usual behavior? It's pretty cool, though, regardless. He seems happy enough, otherwise; he usually rides around the tank on an astrea when he isn't basking close to the lights. Link to comment
Polarcollision
where did you get your lettuce nudi in seattle? Having trouble finding a second one. Link to comment
reefhound
eggs are laid in spirals.. probably about 2 days after both mine were rolled up together. eggs hatch in 1 to 2 weeks unless you are seeing them in spirals, you are probably seeing the snot the excrete imo Link to comment
Mariaface
High flow means oxygenated water, nutrients if osmosis is required, and dispersal of newborn organisms so the odds are in their favor (or at least for one or two of hundreds). Link to comment

There are def. eggs in the mass being laid in the pic though. Link to comment
reefhound
yep, i've pulled them and put them in a seperate tank with air for flow.. no filter. plenty of algae and phyto any idea on the gestation time for theese guys? I've read 1-2 weeks but always searching for more info Link to comment
lallen_74
Polar, I found mine at one of my Seattle LFSs: Barrier Reef Aquariums. They do some online sales, but the invert selection seems to be pretty random. I have since built a mini refugium in one of the back compartments of my tank, a la TeenyReefer's. I think it was too late for the eggs; they finally just disappeared, and I haven't seen any sign of any new nudis. If this happens again, I will put the eggs back there. Link to comment

Yeah, it's hit or miss with BRA. Unfortunately I don't get down there much since it's a bit of a drive. Does your lettuce nudibranch eat nori sheets for tangs? Link to comment

A lot of nudi species have eggs that hatch within that window. Link to comment
