kellybs5512
Couple questions. Have a JBJ 12 Gallon. Just bought my first corals. Mostly zoa/palys but also bought a torch coral. 1st: Do I need to buy any food for these corals? 2nd: Should I run the Hydor 240 or just the return pump? 3rd: Where is the best placement for these corals? Thanks in advance. Link to comment

Depends on your light source why is it unnecessary to feed softies? Seriously I don't know. What is the coral food at the LFS for? A different type of coral? Link to comment

Feeding benefit is still somewhat of a debate. Within control, there wouldn't be much downside to feeding but you can have a perfectly happy, thriving tank without adding "food" Kessil A160WE are my lights. 8" from top of tank. I think you will be fine placing them almost anywhere. I would start bottom to mid and watch how they react. If everything looks good, move em up if you'd like Link to comment

tanacharison
Its hard to decide if they are truely eating the food or just reacting to contact. I stopped target feeding mine and they grow just fine finding what they need in the water. Link to comment
