How long have you had the gorgonian in there? I'd like to get some for my seahorse tank but I figured they'd die.

The gorg is only a week old but when I kept them in my former mixed reef I had them for years without issue.

Nice! I also have a jbj 8 gal =) Nice little tank I will be following along!

Excellent. Would love to see pics of yours. Did you find that you needed to drill a pressure relief hole in the black plastic separating the filter compartment from the tank?

Hmmm, not sure what you are referring to, but I did change to Stevie T's filter rack instead and have been really happy with that. He gives you a little diverter to help with the flow/ surface skimming. I also house the ATO float valve and heater in the chambers with the return pumps. Top rack I run filter floss, then chemipure elite and then purigen.

Also I haven't updated with pictures recently, but I should! You can check mine out at the link in my signature =)

I found that when doing a water change, if you remove enough water from the main display that the pressure in the filter compartment will bow and crack the black back wall from the glass. I had to reinstall the entire piece on mine with a ton of silicone to get it to work. Its perfect now though. So, I drilled a very small hole about 4" up the back wall in the plastic so that the water will drain out of the back and not put pressure against the plastic. Nice tank in your signature!

Ahhh yeah, I have not had that issue, but I only ever do a 2.5 gal waterchange at most, I guess I could just keep pumps on and pump some water into display so there isn't a ton of water back there, good to know! Thank you! =)
