Closed loop - opinions needed

I want to up the flow when I set my tank back up, and have decided to run a closed loop.

Tank is a DSA Neo 65 - 36x20x21

I'm trying to decide between drilling the back wall for the returns , or bringing them up through the bottom.

For now it will be ran by a Jebao DC 12000 or maybe 15000, and have a 1" SCWD to switch up the flow . I would like to eventually swap that out for a Vectra L1 but that is some time away .

Those of you familiar with closed loops - which setup do you recommend and why. I will be researching the topic but figured I would go ahead and ask.

Thanks in advance

I did both. Routed everything with an Oceans Motions Super Squirt. Loved the flow pattern, but it is bulky and required constant cleaning. Any reason you didn't want to go with something like a Maxspect Gyer pump for flow?

I have a gyre 150 , and just sold it last night. I want something a little more random as far as flow pattern goes. The gyre was plenty strong enough , but just not to my liking .

Thought about a couple of MP40's but with the right pump / positioning- I can get similar results with the closed loop for much less money .

I'm running two in the back, two through the bottom. I honestly regret the bottom two now that I'm in the process of setting it up, they're going to mess with the scape. If all goes to plan, I'll run the DC12000 in else mode with a reef angel. I'll probably just break the pump, but it'll be fun to try. 36x30x12 for reference
