DetroitReefer
Just starting up my new 18g nano tank. I am using Tropic Eden's Mesoflakes live sand, and BulkReefSupply's dry live Pukani to start. Do I need to add any live rock? Or will the live sand be enough to start the cycle? Any advice? Thanks! The live sand will do the trick but IMO I would pick up a bottle of microbact7. It's around $8 and will guarantee that you get the cycle going and finished. Definitely clean the crap out of the Pukani with an acid/vinager bath before you add it to your tank. The die off from Pukani is Insaine and will draw out your cycle time a lot. Link to comment
DetroitReefer
Thanks for the advice, Hippie! I am using an additive as well, and getting things going. Things are starting to smell. Link to comment
Simulated Fish
Thanks for the advice, Hippie! I am using an additive as well, and getting things going. Things are starting to smell. The smell will last 2-3 days at most if you got a good clean in. If not it can last weeks. Link to comment
