jelias182
Hello - first time saltwater aquarium owner here, just had a 100g installed. Put in the first set of fish today - 4 ocellaris clownfish (2 orange, 2 brown juveniles). One of the oranges is very aggressive toward the other orange only - constantly chasing and pecking at him no matter where he is in the tank. The two browns are very peaceful. Should I be concerned? Newstead
Not unless you see damage .. sounds like she is trying to establish dominance. Link to comment
fishfreak0114
This is perfectly normal for the first while after adding them. Eventually one clown will submit by turning on its side and shaking. It kind of looks like it is having a seizure. The one who submits will become male and the other will become female. After that happens she may still peck him here and there but as long as no damage is done it's ok, she's just reaffirming her dominance. Link to comment
ndrobey
In clownfish, the female is a dominatrix and beats up the male. As soon as he submits, she will quit beating up on him. Link to comment
