Hi guys!

Microbubble-mania, having troubles with the skimmer producing micro bubbles and the Eheim returns sucking them in.

My name is Niklas. Living in stockholm, Sweden

Forgive me for my english :)

Just started my third saltwater tank, I've had some trouble in the way with my first two tanks and I'm hoping this one will have more luck, third time is a charm? :)

First tank was RSM250 that had a leak in the backglass, needed to take it down asap so I sold everything for cheap.

1 year later I started a IM Nuvo 16 that I loved as a tank. Some months in my girlfriend and I got our second child, which had complications at birth, so I had to shut that tank down to. We weren't home for like 4 months, and with no-one to take care of the tank, I pulled the plug on that one too. I still have that one here at home, but as my "leak" anxiety is pretty high I couldn't start that one. Needed a new tank that didn't have lots of questions about the quality of the glass etc.

Even though I didn't get ANY answers from the IM crew about their tanks cracking in mysterious ways. I got myself a new IM Fusion 20

Now!

I got a new Innovative Marine Fusion 20

Eheim compact 600 (as return)

InTank custom mediabaskets

Tunze 9001 Doc skimmer (in middle chamber with a little bit of mod to get it in there)

Spinstreams

Tunze Osmolator 3155 (old one, no nano setting in the controller so I just got a valve so it pumps lower volumes from the pump instead)

Using old stock lighting

Some random photos if anyone is interested :)

Can anyone ID this one? Looks like some LPS or something? It came with the LR

Thanks Niklas

(needs better photo-taking-skills and some more livestock :D)

Not much new, tried to move the skimmer to get rid of the microbubbles, got more microbubbles :D it probably takes time, I'll just have to wait.

Still thinking about that little creature on the last picture and was looking at pics of Corynactis or Pseudocorynactis aka ball anemone. I dont see 100% resemblence but its the closest i've come.

What do you guys think?

Nice list of equipment! Looks like you are off to a good start.

I don't think I can really help you ID, the only thing I can think off is aiptasia. But sure hope that's not the case.

It's good to have some Europeans on this Forum.

Thanks! Its definitely not aptasia, understand its hard to see on the pic :)

Its more like pink colored and looks to have a white mouth in the middle. Its the size of a quarter.

Yeah, I love this forum. Every possible question about nano reef you can imagine, you can find it here!

Little bit of update: Found Bergia Nudibranch this morning on the glass, hope its the one that eats aiptasia and not corals xD

Didnt remove it, looks alot like bergia but you never know

Tomorrow im going to take some pictures

So anyway!

Little pic of the tank right now.

Hermit and Cleaner shrimp hanging out, the shrimp is always on that rock, hardly ever move.

Some blue stuff, could be a sponge or something right? Looks kinda neat!

I have a old piece of tunze osmolator, so I used a drip irrigator to turn down the volume of water its pumping in. (Creds to Roger Vitko)

Need to get some acrylic tube holder for the tube, so it looks cleaner :)

Pretty jammed in the middle chamber, the ATO is dangerously near the skimmer and baffles, hope it will work out. Would really like to get the Smart ATO micro, for the small footprint.

Thinking of extending the airtube to get the silencer behind the tank, do you think it will make a difference in the skimmer?

Edit 2: Im using Seachem Matrix in one of the back chambers, Im not sure if its just a detrius collector or does it work well?

Edit: Oh btw, I did end up putting some filter floss in the "bubble guard" in the skimmer, no more bubbles!

I ordered this accessory for the skimmer, but still waiting on it.

  • 1 month later...

Finally an update!

Been busy with work, family and stuff!

So what has happened since last time...

I got my Nanobox Duo, which is an awesome light fixture! got the hanging kit in case I want to upgrade later or something, plus I like the hanging look!

I switched my Tunze Osmolator to a Smart ATO micro, for the small footprint and it looks like it will be able to keep the water level exactly as i like it. I like it a lot, i've only used it 2 days...

I got a pair of clown fish, one of them disappeared in the tank, looked everywhere never to be found

Current stocking

3 Ricordea

1 Acan red/white

1 hitchhiked Zoa

1 shrimp goby pair (they dove in my tank last night so they are still shy :))

1 Trumpet coral

Is this a majano anemone? How do I get rid of it?!

IMG_9067.jpg

Got home and found my tank all brown/rusty on my sand, how come? I did a WC and i vacuumed the sanded, but its coming back again. Where there is no light, the algae don't live. How do I get rid of it?
