shawnyboy66
So I am moving (i currently have a 5 gallon nano reef). I have a brand new 29 gallon biocube I will be setting up for the transfer when the lease starts. My friend is giving me a TON of live rock from his stocked tank and ill be putting it in a 5 gallon bucket with a heater water and bubbler. If i start the new tank out with that live rock... will it be ok to move my livestock into it within a day or 2 or will it have to cycle? PDR
If possible I would let the rock from your friend settle in the new tank for a few days, but if that's not possible you should still be fine but there is a chance of a mini cycle. Just test your parameters daily and keep some prime on hand just in case you need to detox any ammonia. Link to comment

PDR
Is it ok if that rock sits in the bucket for a couple days? As long as it's heated and aerated it should be fine Link to comment
