Dealing with diatoms

So i have had my tank up for about three months and I'm getting diatoms everywhere. It seems like they go away at night and then reappear once the lights are on for a few hours. I'm only feeding every other day and paramenters are good. I've just been blasting it off the rocks and sand with a turkey baster but it's getting annoying after a week of it. Will it just go away, should I even bother cleaning it?

Suck it out with the baster, Do a water change, black out the tank for 3 days. Like completely black, I put a large contractor garbage bag over mine and just left the back chamber uncovered for gas exchange.

After 3 days remove the bag/blackening items, suck up anything left in the tank, do another water change and toss in some phosphate remover.. Keep up on water changes and reduced light cycle and pray it doesn't give way to HA.

I didn't keep up with water changes and mine gave way to HA that i've been battling.

Will going dark have any effect on the livestock?

Will piss it off that's for sure. Tank is only 3 months old... is there a lot of livestock? Most new tanks go through a diatom bloom in the beginning

Goby/pistol combo and a couple of frags.

When I was cycling both my tanks they both had diatoms at one point. Eventually it just went away on its own without my intervention. Just my experience ?

You can try just sucking up the diatoms, water changes and all that and if still is a problem weigh the risks of blackout for 3 days. There's a chance something could die off... then again there's a equal chance the diatoms can kill something off.

Do you have a cuc?

I've got an emerald, 5 scarlet hermits, 5 of the blue legged ones and a random assortment of about 8 snails.
