Biocube 29 or IM Fusion 30L

Hi everyone. I have been a member on this forum for a while but rarely post. I can usually find the answers to any question that I have by using the search option. I want to say thanks to all of the members on here whose insight has greatly aided in my success as a reefer. I have been running a JBJ 12 gallon for about 7 months now steady(tore it down a year ago after a move and restarted from scratch). I have the itch for something a little bigger now. At first I was looking at the Biocube 29. I have had success with a similar tank and liked the wider footprint plus the fact that it is plug and play. I would upgrade the lighting soon after purchase, however, could run the tank until then.

Then I saw the IM 30L. Now I'm on the fence between the two. I love the longer swim room that the 30L provides, not to mention it is a sexy looking tank. But, I love the extra height that the cube has.

I keep going back and forth between the two tanks. Just when I think my mind is made up on one, I notice something about the other that I like as well.I would love to get everyone's opinions. I am planning on buying my items to start the build at the end of this month.

Thanks

Innovative Marine, if you want more of a cube get the 40 instead of the 30L,you stated you were going to upgrade the lighting just get a bare tank and buy the lighting for it. The Innovative does not have a frame so that might be a cooler look for you.

I'd have to agree with jdog. If your into the cube look, go with the 40....when I do my next upgrade "up"....that's the size and style I'm looking for!

Nothing wrong with the biocube as I had one. The Fusion crushes it in appearence though and that is a huge part of it for me. Just my 2 cents.

Didn't really think about the 40 at first. Now that I have been checking it out, I am really loving the look and I already have a scape in mind that will work perfectly with the IM 40. Next week I will start purchasing rock, sand, pump, heater and start building a stand. Tank will be purchased at end of the month. I'm really excited to get started.

Thanks for the help.

I currently own a BC29 and and in the midst of upgrading to the IM 30L. With volume wise, both are about 1-2 gals apart, dimensionally speaking, the length gives it a bigger tank look not to mention more real estate to play with. while you do give up the height, you gain more in the space to place more corals. The IM will also give more swimming space for fish if you have any.
