Eisernes
These are my initial impressions of the skimmer. I hooked it up while doing my leak test to make sure it worked. I won't have it running in saltwater for a few more months. It is very sturdy. The acrylic is thick and overall it feels like good quality. I didn't feel like I was going to break it while assembling. Assembly is easy and I thought the instructions were thorough and easy to follow. The design incorporates elements of several different skimmer designs. It has the same bubble plate design as a BM Curve, the air adjustment of a Skimz, and the twist lock style collection cup of an Aquamaxx. The water adjustment is also similar to a Curve but they added an arrow and a notch which is helpful to see where the zero point is. The pump is a Jebao DC pump relabeled as a Simplicity pump. The controller is a Skimz controller which would also be a Jebao. It isn't even re-branded though. Says Skimz loud and proud right on it. I felt a little let down by the pump situation. I had narrowed my choices down to either a Skimz or a Simplicity but after reading page after page of complaints that Skimz impellers were failing and exploding after just a few months use I went with the Simplicity. Seems as if that didn't matter since I ended up with the same pump in the form of a redesigned Skimz renamed Simplicity. Overall I like the design and it seems like it will work very well. I like the way it adjusts and love the twist off cup. I will keep my fingers crossed about the pump. Link to comment
azn-allstar
Thanks for the review. I definitely will consider this when it's time for a new skimmer. Link to comment
Halo_003
I got one of these last week from DFS for $170 shipped, it arrived yesterday. Unfortunately I won't have it up and running for at least a week but I went ahead and assembled it. I agree with Eisernes, it's a pretty nicely built unit. It's quite sturdy, din't feel super cheaply made. My only complaint was if you get the intake on the pump/venturi stuck, it is kinda a PITA to get it unstuck. Hoping to have it up and running next weekend but might not, not sure. Link to comment

Matteo
how would you all compare this to the CoralBox D500 or because it is a Jebao pump it is probably the same? Link to comment
