mo'smyname
Tank has been wet since June/July 2015, first livestock (small CUC and some sacrificial canary corals) went in about August. Anemones and conch were introduced around September/October. January 2016: Hardware: Oceanic Biocube 29 - bottom baffles removed and waterway widened. Maxi-jet 1200 for the return. Tetra 100w heater in the middle chamber. Aquatic Life 115 mini skimmer in the 1st chamber. Jabao RW-4 in Else mode, full blast. Chinese Black box full spectrum LED retrofit into stock biocube canopy 2x cheap mechanical timers DIY temperature controller - (controlling heater and cooling fans) DIY media filtration basket * DIY fish saver Fish: None Inverts: 1x Green BTA 2x Sherman Rose BTA's (Split within a few months of being put into the tank!) 1x tiny Rainbow BTA 1x florida fighting conch 1x cerith snail A crap-ton of nano conchs Coral: GSP A dying green plate coral Some zoas and palys. Macros: Gracilaria Red Titan Dragon's Breath * I made a ghetto fabulous media rack for the central chamber and a water diverter. I didn't take pics of that because I plan on rebuilding it. It currently just holds a few pieces of filter floss that I change out when it gets too dark brown. Water changes every week or two. Got the tank used. As with most older biocubes, the stand was water damaged more than I was comfortable with. Had to replace the side and back panels. Caulked all the joints, primed the MDF with some oil based primer, then hit it with a few coats of Rustoleum Satin Black. Upgraded the lighting and added supplemental cooling to the canopy. Basically ripped out all the original CF lighting and shoehorned a chinese black box full spectrum LED, then setup some fans to blow across the back. Link to comment
mo'smyname
Made a temperature controller using the standard Inkbird 2 relay unit. Made my own project box with outlets coming out of the rear to take up minimal space in the cabinet It currently sits on a box while I figure out how I want to semi permanently mount it. The glass on the biocube cabinet door is coated in paint on the inside. I was able to scratch out a rectangle that lets me see the temp through the glass while the doors are closed. Also made an acrylic fish saver for the back. Link to comment
