Andy73
EDIT: Caught him - More photos below Thanks Hi, just placed my rock in my aquarium and spotted this little fellow hiding under the rock. Would love to know what it is and if I have to remove it. Thanks Link to comment
dadummy
not sure of the species of crab, from the the looks of that claw i would remove it Link to comment
JavaJacketOC
Going to need a better picture, can only see the claw in that one. I think the general consensus is that if it's smooth it's probably fine, if it's hairy looking it's probably not. Link to comment
donnievaz
Could it be a pistol shrimp? Link to comment

Urchinhead
Rarely are there "good" crabs in my mind. The only "good" crabs in my book are a Acropora crab or a Pom Pom crab. Everything else needs to go before it kills something I actually wanted in my tank. Based on that pincer and the size of the arm it's not a good crab and should go away. Link to comment
rone_kevin66
Pom pom are just as bad. I've seen them attack and kill fish. No crab is safe the belong in a species only tank. Link to comment
Andy73
Hi, thanks for all the responses. Finally, after a week of trying to trap the little critter, I removed the rock from the tank, ran fresh water through the rock openings, drained it and poked around all the holes until it jumped out and ran for it. Now I can start stocking the tank and try getting it running properly Here are some photos of the trouble maker. Is it worth putting it in the sump or just getting rid of it?? Thanks Link to comment

SunWyrm
He looks really cool - let him live in the sump! Or better yet give him his own pico Link to comment
