tkao
This will be mostly for zoas, maybe candy cane corals and frogspawn or hammer. Maybe some others, not totally positive yet. I'm wanting to use one of these: http://www.amazon.com/ABI-Aquarium-Light-450-470nm-15000K/dp/B00CXTZN2Qwith a gooseneck clamp. My question is should I stick with one of these or use two? And if I use two should I use two white&blue OR 1 white&blue + 1 blue? Link to comment
Kijho
That LED looks like blues + whites only. I'd recommend something with more color I'm using the Halo Par 38 which is pretty similar to the one you've linked above. More expensive, it's decent.. I don't think I'd call it "amazing" as I've seen other aquariums on here and people seem to have had much more growth/ success with much better (and more expensive) lighting setups.. The nanobox tide, etc.. Link to comment

I have mine on 8 hours at 55% and have been getting some algae growth very quickly. Link to comment

I have mine on 8 hours at 55% and have been getting some algae growth very quickly. you can have it at any % you just need to slowly acclimate the tank to it, if you just threw the light on and set it to 50%, theres gonna be issues, but if you slowly acclimate it, such as rising the % by 10% weekly, you can have it set to 100%, just acclimate... slow..... makingfilms
how old is the tank? Tank has been up since thanksgiving. I downgraded my 55 to a 5. All the rock and sand was from the 55. a few weeks ago My nephew dropped a paint marker in rear chamber of the tank without anyone knowing. This caused a lot of damage so I had to remove 80% of my rock and 100% of my sand and replace with new cured rock and sand from a very trusted buddy who was taking down a tank and had some to spare. as of last night algae appears to be actually decreasing. But it probably is due to the lack of fish in the tank currently. I am not feeding the tank I am just dosing every other day reef energy A + B. I will try to slowly increase my lights every week and see if my allgae comes back. I wanted to have some sps at the top of the tank But I didn't think this light would be able to support it happily. Have you ever successfully kept sps with marine orbits? Link to comment
Dreichler
i never use orbits, i use only AI products, but have every single spec v I've seen has that light, and can maintain sps towards the top, not right at the top but in the upper 70% of the tank Link to comment
