Rpc07
So this is the first I have seen of this. This little guy decided to hang out by the over flow vents. I shooed him away once and he just comes back. I don't want him winding up in the back of my bio cube. All day he's been more skittish today then normal. He has a place in the front rock work that he usually hangs out in he's been eating fine. I don't mind him finding a new hiding spot but this one seems less then ideal. Link to comment
Newstead
That would scare me too. Could something be bothering it in its usual place? I know my ywg won't come out of a tunnel entrance if a snail is around it. Link to comment
rturiak
My YWG did the same thing when I first put him into my tank and my clown fish was bullying him. He finally came around and is doing much better Link to comment
Rpc07
He has been in the tank a little more then 2 weeks. This is the first night I have noticed this behavior. The only new thing in my tank are a few banded trochus snails. Could they be causing him stress? Link to comment
Rpc07
This little guy is really making me un easy now. He has wedged himself back there 3 times and doesn't move until I touch him. Link to comment
Rpc07
Hard to see but this is his new spot. He's on the inside part of the mag float Link to comment
ndrobey
Get him a shrimp to bond with. The shrimp will stay on the bottom, and the fish will stay with him. Link to comment
Rpc07
Get him a shrimp to bond with. The shrimp will stay on the bottom, and the fish will stay with him. Other then getting him a shrimp should I be concerned about this behavior? Link to comment
dpoltsdsu
Well as long as the fish is feeding properly and is showing good color, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Link to comment
cruiZe
I see your tank has nice sand and caves to hide in... not sure why he'd pick mag float or death drain as his home, but fish are weird. It does seem healthy tho. +1 about getting a pistol, I got my YWG and Tiger pistol on the same day so I can't speak to independent behavior- they've always been together in the sand. Link to comment
Droy008
Fish are weird, don't try to rationalize all of their behaviors. I do think that a pistol might help him return to more "natural" behaviour. But if he's stressed by your clowns, he's just going to do whatever makes him feel comfortable. Link to comment
Rpc07
I'm looking into getting him a pistol shrimp. I don't mind that he hides by the mag float but I have fished him out of chamber 1 twice now. I also re aquascaped hoping he would establish a new home but no luck. He still eats and I find him on the sand once in a while but most of his time is spent up top. I don't know what goes on at night but during the day there is no aggression towards him at all my other fish completely ignore him. It's starting to drive me nuts that he won't settle down.
