Dragon's breath--my tank is on fire lol

So my little dragon's breaths have really taken off. In less than a month, grew a couple inches at least. Idk what others do but apparently mine love HIGH flow, placed it so tips get blown by my pump...and I anchored them to rubble on the bottom of my tank. I might have to do some fragging soon, wonder if my LFS will give me credit?! ?

I am constantly selling dragons breath to my LFS. Grows like a weed. I also give some to my wife. Her tangs LOVE it.

Nice, what size and how much do you sell it for may I ask?

I've actually cut out wanting an angel cause I don't want to risk it being eaten lol.

Trying to think of a good way to quantify how much usually $5 or so for a 3-4" piece I'd say.

In all honesty I usually trim 3/4 of my algae a month. The prettiest parts with the glowing tips go to the LFS. The stuff thats been shaded and doesn't glow goes to the tangs. The tangs don't care if its pretty but the LFS does.

Took close to a year but mine has finally anchored itself to a piece of rubble. I noticed a little sliver stuck to the rubble I had been rubber banding it to so I set it aside to see if it would grow and it did. So no more rubber bands :)

Wow, I did not know they could anchor. I have mine all on rubber bands anchored to a piece of liverock rubble. Good to know! Thanks!

I was told it does not, but mine did. Next time I trim it I'll try to get a macro photo of where its attached to the rock to see if it looks like a holdfast or something else.

Just read about Halymenia Floridana and it says it does form a single holdfast. I doubt that whats sold in the aquarium trade is Floridana but I would suspect other Halymenia sp. would grow in the same way.

Awesome, very curious as to what conditions made yours anchor on its own!

Though you might be interested in a pic of the holdfast. Finally took a pic.

Had to epoxy the rock to another heavier rock as the whole thing kept getting blown around.

What's that thing to the left? The big tan thing?

It's a grape monticap. That picture was taken with a white led flashlight. The cap is about the size of a dinner plate.

FYI this is what the cap looks like in reef lighting.. though the even with the WB set at 8000k its still bluer in the pic than in real life.

Need to frag it, its nearly covering 1/2 the tank now.

It looks like The Enterprise.

it does lol. We've been watching Star Trek as of late and watched a movie, the one where the romulines were drilling into planets and making them turn into black holes. And now there's a marine model lol even with the small back part lol. You're funny!?

Got Corals is supposed to receive a shipment today. I'm like Pavlovs dog waiting to see what they get in on their website lol.

Sorry to hijack but you do have a space ship lol.?

Very pretty. How does this survivability fare in fuge's say in comparison to chaeto? Have you experienced any dangers with this macro?

This algae is beautiful, but it doesn't seem to travel too well. Mine was so pale when it arrived that I thought it might have died, but it colored back up and started growing fast after a few days. The fluorescent orange tips make it pretty stunning. I also have it in high flow.
