I used epoxy to fill them in for the time being (more for peace of mind) and moved a thicker mat under the tank was pushing down into the top of the stand. I looked at all the tanks I could find in the 25 gallon range and finally decided on the IM Lagoon 25. It will allow me to use my existing equipment and new DUO that should be arriving soon. The dimensions are probably the biggest deciding factor for me as I couldn't find a shallow tank with a similar foot print. I ordered the tank from Marine Depot and it should be here by the end of the week. Here are the chips on the 15 gallon This is a recent photo of the 15 gallon I will be moving everything to the lagoon except for the sand, I will be adding 25# of Caribsea Flamingo Reef aragonite. I am not sure if I will add more rock or work with what I have. I would say there is close to 15# of rock. Should I add more dry rock (reef cleaners) ? I ordered the tank and it should be here by the end of the week. I decided to build my own stand which I feel will give me a higher quality stand for half the price. I decided to build a frame from 1x3 pine and skin it with 1/2 inch birch plywood. This allows me to have more space inside the stand compared to if I used 2x4's (which would be overkill IMO). The top will be 3/4 inch plywood and I have added a two piece shelf that will allow me to easily remove one section or both creating a full shelf, half shelf, or no shelf option. I should have the stand assembled this week and painted by the weekend. Link to comment

Thanks, It is a shame, the tank was doing very well and corals were starting to grow in. Maybe the tank would have lasted years and not leaked. I figured better safe than sorry and who dosnt like a good upgrade ! Link to comment

After seeing how it turned out for you it deffinetly made the lagoon an easy choice. Did you move from an existing tank as well ? Link to comment

Doneski Yeah I was gonna do new dry sand, and bring over the rock, about 15# or so. Not sure if it will.be enough to scape or if I should add dry rock. Link to comment

reefernanoman
Well I plan to move everything over in one shot. I just hope it goes well and everything survives. Just be careful with the live sand. When I moved from my apartment to my house, the old sand released what I'm assuming was nitrates, which nuked my SPS colonies. I would suggest to just use new LS. It's not even that expensive anyways. Good luck with the move! Link to comment

pgrVII
I just used a bag of dry sand, honestly if you're seeding with established rock then you should be ok Link to comment

shawnd08
Awesome. I'd say there is close to 15#'s of rock in the 15 gallon, about 9 months old. Ifor now I'm going to see what I can do with that rock for a scape and if needed I will add more later. I worked on the stand some more tonight and started painting. I have decided to go with no door for a couple of reasons. A ) I ran out of wood B ) I will be able to check the temp and ato levels (ato will be purchased later on) easily as I walk by. C ) most stands have doors so let's be different I suppose. I'll be working some more on it tomorrow and I will add a few photos of the almost finished product. It's looking like next weekend may be the move date so as it gets closer and I start to think of everything that can go wrong I may have a few questions for you guys. Link to comment
shawnd08
The tank arrived today !! Big thanks to Marine Depot for the great packing job. Tank made it from the west coast to the east coast and through a snow storm with no damage. I also finished the stand and temporarily set the tank up and leak tested it. I will probably move everything over Saturday. Link to comment

shawnd08
I transferred everything yesterday and it seems to be doing well. Here is a quick picture of the scape. Ignore the gorgonia as I haven't placed it yet. I still need to get clips for the screen top and my Duo is finished just waiting for Dave to put a revised driver board in it next week and then it should be on its way ! I will add more pictures tomorrow. Link to comment

It probably wont be much and WC will probably fix it. Link to comment

I will deffinetly keep an eye on the ammonia over the next few days. I have 4 Gallons of water ready for a WC if needed. Luckily my LFS is about 5 minutes down the road so I can get more quickly if needed. Link to comment
