ReviloM
Are there any issue/downfalls with have 1 return vs have 2? Link to comment
jbb
My 65 was drilled for (2) 3/4" returns and a single 1" drain . I wanted to run a herbie so I used one of the 3/4" lines as the main siphon drain , and 1" as the emergency, leaving only one return and it has worked just fine. The majority of your intank flow will come from Powerheads so the single return shouldn't be an issue . Link to comment
AZDesertRat
None as long as the single is capable of handling the rated flow without much headloss due to fittings or friction from the water velocity. I prefer two myself though as it gives me more random flows in my display with the flows converging in the middle plus controllable powerheads mixing it up. Link to comment
ReviloM
Thanks for replying. I pretty much just want 1 return and was just making sure there wasn't anything I missed. Link to comment
AZDesertRat
Most pump manufacturers recommend increasing your return line one size larger than the pumps discharge to reduce the headloss on the pump and increase the flow. Cuts down on the velocity and jetting action but actually increases the flow rate due to lower head. Link to comment
ReviloM
Head loss won't be a problem because it is an oversized DC pump. I more than likely will cut it back significantly anyways. Link to comment
CronicReefer
You could always split your outlet into your display into two nozzles so you can have flow going in two directions. Link to comment
